Troubleshooting using Meridian Manager App Follow
The Meridian Manager App offers various modes that helps with troubleshooting issues and providing more insight to the Meridian deployments.
To view the various troubleshooting modes offered by the app, go to:
>> Menu >> Troubleshooting
Battery Walkthrough Mode
This mode enables you to sync beacons data to the Meridian Editor through the app.
If you have configured and deployed APBs (AccessPoint Beacons) they continuously monitor for beacons data and is sent over to the Meridian Server in the cloud. So using this mode on the app you can manually sync Beacons data without the need for APBs.
Follow the steps below to sync beacons data using Battery Walkthrough mode on the app:
- Open the Meridian Manager App and click on Menu button, select "Battery Walkthrough" from "Troubleshooting".
- Click on "Start Walkthrough" to start the process. (Ensure Bluetooth on the devices is turned on)
- Walk close to the Beacons that needs to sync. Beacons that have synched successfully will turn green.
- You can save your progress using the "Save Progress" button. You can resume by clicking "Resume Walkthrough" button.
Location Walkthrough Mode
Location Walkthrough Mode measures blue dot accuracy along user-defined routes.
Creating your path: You must create a path throughout the area containing beacons you want to test. This is the path you will walkthrough. To create a path long tap on the map to add a node:
- To create a path , long tap on the map to add a node. Continue adding nodes to connect segments on the path.
- Once path is complete, tap start to being your walkthrough.
Walking your path: When you reach each node indicate that you have hit this checkpoint by tapping "Next Checkpoint".
Once the walkthrough is completed, the app will show the route with a colour gradient to indicate blue dot accuracy.
Associated Beacons Mode
Associated Beacons Mode allows a user to see the Beacons that his/her device is associated with at a particular time or location. This gives more insight to the Beacons deployment and which are the Beacons that a device is getting associated to from a particular location or at a particular time.
To view the Beacons you are associated to follow the steps below:
- Open the Meridian Manager App and click on Menu button, select "Associated Beacons Mode" from "Troubleshooting".
- Walk around within the deployed Beacons range.
You will see the Beacons turn amber. The beacons in amber colour are the beacons that the device is associated to from that location. As you move around you can see that the beacons turn amber when the device is associated to it.
Triggers Debug Mode
Triggers Debug Mode is used to troubleshoot trigger generation from a Proximity Beacon. The app provides an interface to troubleshoot triggers. This includes providing realtime trigger logs which includes the MAC address of the Proximity Beacon, the date with timestamp and RSSI info. The mode allows to filter the logs using an RSSI filter, and also includes CoolDown mode which can be used to set a time interval between the triggers.
Note: Proximity Beacon needs to be deployed for trigger function.
To use the Triggers Debug mode follow the steps below:
- Open the Meridian Manager App and click on Menu button, select "Triggers Debug Mode" from "Troubleshooting".
- First time users will be presented with a walkthrough, then you can see a screen with the floor plan & Proximity Triggers (in grey colour)
- Select the required Proximity Trigger Beacon and add it by clicking add button. The Proximity Beacon turns light blue once its added.
- Click back button and click on subscribe. The logs will not turn "Active"
- Click the logs to see the generated logs. Logs will be generated only when there is a trigger, which required you to be in the range of the Proximity Trigger.
As you move closer to the Proximity Beacon, you can see the RSSI values getting better and better in the logs generated.
Control Tags Mode
Note : This feature has been introduced from version 1.2.0 . If you are not seeing this feature then update your app to the latest version.
Control Tags can be deployed to understand how well a Tag is being heard by APs. The app shows the quality of signal received by APs from a Tag that is deployed as Control Tag. This helps us in identifying areas where tags are heard poorly and hence we can add APs to improve tracking accuracy.
To deploy control tags using Meridian Manager App refer this document.
To use the Control Tags troubleshooting mode on app, follow the steps below:
- Open the Meridian Manager App and click on Menu button, select "Control Tags" from "Troubleshooting".
- Ensure to select the correct floor plan where you have deployed the control tags by using the floor selector on top right of the screen.
You will see your deployed Control Tags on the floor plan with different colours each depicting quality of signal that is being heard by APs.
You can also see the distance of each Control Tag from the AP that is hearing it.
