Lists are a Page type that sorts, filters, and groups objects together in one place. In Meridian, an object can be a Page, Placemark, or Event.
Lists can be created dynamically using one of the three object types and filters. You can also create Lists statically by choosing specific items for a List.
Before you can create a list, you’ll need to have already created objects that can be added to the list.
Create a New List
Complete these steps to create a new List.
In the Meridian Editor sidebar, click PAGES.
Click the Add Page + button.
Under Pages > New Page, click the TYPE dropdown menu, and then click List.
The page updates to show the List property options.
As you make changes to a List, the Preview will update to show those changes.
Use the Object Type dropdown menu to limit a List to a single object type: Page, Placemark, or Event.
The Group By dropdown menu lets you group objects in a list together by category or by user defined custom values. Objects that don’t have a category will be listed in the Other category.
The Sort By dropdown menu lets you choose the user-defined custom value you’d like to use to sort objects. If an object on a list doesn’t have the selected value, it will be sorted to the bottom of the list. If there is more than one object without the custom value, they will be sorted alphabetically.
Lists are sorted alphabetically by default.
List objects are displayed in cells. There are two style options for cells, slim or fat. By default, lists use the slim cell style. The main difference between the two styles is that the fat cell style will show an object’s description, and a slim cell will not.
Images will display in either style, but only if all of the objects in a list have an image.
The Filter tool lets you filter a list of objects by an object value that you choose. You can filter objects by Category or by a user-defined custom value.
You can create more than one filter for a list.
Complete these steps to add a filter to a list.
Next to FILTERS, click the +.
Click the PROPERTY dropdown menu, and then choose the property you’d like to use for the filter.
In the VALUE field, start typing the name of the value you’d like to use for the filter.
If you want to add another filter, click the + under the filter box.
To delete a filter, move your mouse pointer to the filter box. When the red trashcan appears, click it to delete the filter.
The Objects function will let you manually create a static list of objects. Adding objects to a list in this way will overwrite any dynamic list you’ve created using categories and filters.
Complete these steps to manually create a static list.
Next to OBJECTS, click the +.
In the LINK field, start typing the name of a Page, Placemark, or Event.
Click an object in the search results to add it.
If you want to add another object, click the + under the link box.
To delete an object, move your mouse pointer to the object you’d like to delete. When the red trashcan appears, click it to delete the object from the list.
This feature will be removed in an future release. Existing Group Sorting functionality can be accomplished with individual lists combined into a single list using the Objects property (a list of lists). Also note that this feature does not work with Language Support.
Manually sort the groups created by the Group By property.
