Meridian Deployment Prerequisites

There are many different ways to configure an Aruba network for use with Meridian. Use this document to identify your Aruba network configuration's prerequisites and follow the links to more detailed configuration steps.

This article presumes that you are using Aruba Beacons hardware in your deployment.

Prerequisites for All Configurations

The following are the prerequisites for a Meridian Beacon deployment.

  • A Meridian Editor account.
  • Aruba Beacons (Battery, USB, or Access Point Beacons).
  • The Aruba Beacons app. iOS Only

Setting Up a Web Proxy for Meridian Data

InstantOS 

As of InstantOS 6.5.3.1 and 6.5.4.6 you will be able to configure a web proxy for Meridian data with a destination of edit.meridianapps.com:443 and tags.meridianapps.com:443;

In the Instant UI
To configure the HTTP proxy settings:
1. Navigate to System > Proxy. The Proxy configuration window is displayed.
2. Enter the HTTP proxy server IP address in the Server text box.
3. Enter the port number in the Port text box.
In the CLI (InstantOS)
To configure the HTTP proxy settings:
   (Instant AP)(config)# proxy server 192.0.2.1 8080<br>   (Instant AP)(config)# proxy exception 192.0.2.2
   (Instant AP)(config)# end
   (Instant AP)#commit apply
	

AOS (Controller-based)

This feature is not available to proxy controller-based Meridian traffic. Availability to proxy controller-generated Meridian traffic is slated for AOS 8.4 release

Remote Beacons Management Prerequisites

The following are the prerequisites for enabling the Meridian Editor's Remote Beacons Management feature.

Aruba Instant Access Point (IAP) 4.2.3.x+

AP 205H is supported on controller-based deployments.

Instant Access Points (IAP) and Asset Tracking Prerequisites

Instant Access Points (IAP) can be used for Meridian Beacons Management and asset tracking.

  • Instant Access Point (IAP)
    • Recommended models: 203R and 303H
  • AOS 6.5.4.x
  • Upstream network providing DNS, NT, and DHCP
  • Ethernet cables for configuration of IAPs
